About
A small studio, on purpose.
Why we started
Ten years of rushed appointments taught us what not to do.
Dr. Imogen Vale opened Alder in 2012 after a decade in a city practice where appointments ran to the minute and nobody had time to explain anything.
She wanted the opposite: longer visits, fewer patients and a plan you could take home and read. Fourteen years later the studio is still small on purpose. We see around twenty people a day, and the person who plans your treatment is the person who does it.
Most of our new patients come from someone who was nervous too.
Principles
Four rules we don’t bend.
01
Explain before we act
Nothing happens in your mouth that you have not had explained first, in plain words, with a picture.
02
Price it in writing
Every plan comes with every fee. If something changes mid-treatment, we stop and update it before we carry on.
03
Keep the same faces
Four clinicians, no locums. The person who planned your treatment is the person who does it.
04
Never rush
First visits are an hour and routine visits forty minutes. We would rather run fewer appointments than shorter ones.
On Hawthorne Boulevard since 2012.
No locums, no rotating associates.
Average across 1,180 patient reviews.
Nervous patients who book a second visit.
The team
Same faces, every visit.
